Triptime AI
Under the hood

How Triptime AI works

A short look at what happens between "3 days in Lisbon" and a finished plan on the map: which parts are AI, which parts are real map and travel data, and where your trips are kept.

From a sentence to a plan

  1. 1

    You ask

Type a destination and a number of days, chat with Mira, or pick your own stops on the map. Plain language is enough.

  2. 2

    AI understands the request

A language model works out the place and the trip length. If a name matches several places (Sevilla in Spain or in Colombia), the best known one is chosen, or you are asked.

  3. 3

    Real places fill the days

Sights, restaurants and a place to stay come from map data, not from the AI's imagination. Each day gets places close to each other, in a sensible order.

  4. 4

Routes, weather and context are added

Real routes with distance, time and elevation; the forecast or typical weather for your month; and a short guide to the area.

  5. 5

    You make it yours

Move and add places, set dates, make a packing list, then share a link or download a PDF.

What each part does

AI layer

Language models read your request, chat as Mira and write the trip summary, tips and highlights. The AI does not invent the places on your map.

Grounded in real sources

Before the AI writes about a city, it is given the Wikivoyage guide and nearby Wikipedia articles, so its text stays close to real facts. Photos come from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons.

Places and addresses

Places, categories, opening hours and addresses come from OpenStreetMap data, served through Geoapify.

Routes and elevation

Driving, cycling and walking routes come from routing engines built on map data, with distance, time and an elevation profile for every day.

Weather

Forecasts for the coming days and typical weather for later months come from Open-Meteo.

Sharing

A shared plan gets its own short link and page, so friends can open it without an account.

Where your trips are kept

On your device first

Everything you plan is saved in your browser right away, so the app stays fast and works without an account.

In your account when you sign in

Signed in, your trips, places, lists and backpacks are copied to a secure database a few seconds after each change, and come back on any device.

Only our server talks to the database

Your browser never connects to the database directly; requests go through our server.

Check the details

AI text can be wrong, and opening hours or prices change. Confirm what matters before you go.
